A 19th century teak campaign chest of five drawers comprising of two small drawers and a single long drawer in the top and two long drawers in the bottom, all brass bound with flush brass handles, set on turned feet.
Campaign or Military furniture was popular in the 19th and 20th centuries, when military campaigns took place during the expansion of the British Empire. British officers of high social standing would carry the pieces around with them for home comforts and storage, piecing them back together for use. Camphor wood, teak and mahogany were commonly used alongside brass metalwork due to their durability.
