An elegant occasional low coffee table in Phillp and Kelvin LaVernes' cherished patinated bronze technique on a square top with rounded edges and etched decoration of Romanesque classical figures.
This father and son team had a studio in New York mid 20th century, and were known for their amazing pieces and their innovative techniques. Philip (1907-1987) and Kelvin (b.1937) created one of a kind and limited edition pieces that were both art and function. They had a process of creating patinated artist-furniture pieces which began by putting pewter and bronze under treated soil which would achieve a unique oxidation that they would then create their masterpieces with. Their pieces have retained instant recognition and their idiosyncratic artistry has never been fully matched or replicated, making their pieces collectible, rare and valuable.
