A large framed oil on canvas by Charles Levier, titled 'Fleurs Paus la Chambres' circa 1958. The painting is signed to the front and also titled and signed to the back of the canvas.

Charles Levier was Corsican born in 1920 to a French Father and American Mother. He studied at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs. His works were shown in France and America where he split his time and can be seen in many museums. He is well known for his abstract and cubist techniques of still-lifes, harbours, cityscapes and figurative works. Some of his works can be signed with one of his pseudonyms ‘Villard’ or ‘Verrier’. Levier was a contemporary of Bernard Buffet and they had a very similar style of work. Buffet worked hard to keep Levier’s reputation low in France. None the less Levier had a great following there and in the USA.

This superb example of Levier's work is in absolute original condition and has never been cleaned. It has very soft dusky colours all over with brighter hues from the orange flowers and ocean scape/boat through the window. The painting is in untouched original condition likewise the frame.
